man using rockler router table

A router table can be one of the hardest-working power tool systems in your woodshop. Depending on the types of projects you build, you can choose a small router table, a medium-duty floor-standing model or a full-size solution with all the bells and whistles. If you're ready to step up to the third option, shown in the photo above, here are our product suggestions for creating this premium system that's sure to be the best router table you will ever own.

ProMax Ultra Cast Iron Router Table with Integrated Pro Lift

Starting at the top is our 24" x 32" ProMax Ultra Cast Iron Router Table with Integrated Pro Lift. Made of hefty 1-3/4"-thick, vibration-dampening cast iron, it's machined dead flat to deliver consistent, accurate cuts. It incorporates our popular Snap-Lock tool-free insert ring system. Just push the button in the tabletop to release these blue aluminum insert rings—there are no tools required or annoying little screws to remove when you're changing router bits!

One thing you won't see on this table's surface is the usual insert plate! That's because we've integrated our popular Pro Lift router table lift right into the table design, to keep the top surface as smooth and seamless as possible. It features two adjustment speeds: Quick-Gear 4-to-1 gear box ratio to dramatically speed bit changes and make coarse height adjustments, and a precision gear to make adjustments to within 0.001". The lift fits 3.25HP router motors with 4.2" diameters and can be retrofitted with reducing adapters to accommodate many other popular mid-size router motors, too.

Raising and lowering your router on this table and making fine adjustments all happen on the side gearbox with a crank lever and fine-adjust knob (see photo, above). Placing the controls here eliminates dials on top of table that can be difficult to access when using jigs. The fine adjustment dial can be zeroed out to enable precise fine tuning with 1/64" marks. An adjustable brake lever, integrated in front of table, helps lock in router lift settings for extra hold during extended, heavy-duty routing sessions.

Steel Router Table Cabinet

Your premium router table system deserves a solid foundation under the cast iron tabletop, and our Steel Router Table Cabinet is a fine choice. The solid-steel, powder-coated cabinet adds mass while dampening router noise. Aside from being incredibly durable, the interior is predrilled with mounting holes for drawer slides, so you can add drawers or pull-put shelves for storing all your routing supplies. It includes our premium dust bucket with a 4" main port and a 2-1/2" port that leads to the fence. Smooth-rolling, locking casters make moving this router table a one-finger job.

Router Table ProMax Fence

You'll achieve unmatched precision and workpiece support with our feature-rich ProMax Fence with micro-adjustment. For operations like routing rabbets and dados, setting up your fence requires a high degree of precision. That's where the micro-adjustability of our ProMax Fence is a huge convenience. It replaces all that bumping and tapping of the fence with one simple knob that dials in the perfect setting for rabbets, dados, grooves and clean, snipe-free jointed cuts. The included jointer bars bump out the left side of the fence by 1/32"—useful if you don't own a jointer when or you need an ultra-clean edge without mill marks.

Dust Right Router Table Dado Dust Chute

Dust collection is important on any router table. So, our ProMax Cast Iron Top includes predrilled holes for installing our innovative Dust Right Router Table Dado Dust Chute. It's a clever device that attaches to the side of your router table to capture the stream of dust before it ever hits the floor. Adjustable bristles in the Dust Chute can be raised just above the table to stop the dust as it shoots over the edge, but the bristles bend easily out of the way as you slide your workpiece across the table. Once installed, you can leave it in place, since the integral blast gate lets you close it off when not needed, and the bristles can be easily lowered if necessary.

man using router table safety switch

Complete your router table with a Safety Power Tool Switch and a set of featherboards, and it will be ready for all sorts of edge profiling, template-routing, panel-raising and joinery operations. A router table of this caliber, outfitted with a variable-speed router motor, is every bit as durable and hard-working as any other large power tool in your arsenal. You may even discover that it tops them all for sheer versatility!
