The name ''Brown Mallee'' refers to a variety of Eucalyptus species with rich brown coloring. ''Mallee'' simply indicates that the tree grows in a stunted habit with multiple narrow stems and, very often, multiple burls. For this reason, Brown Mallee is almost always found in burl form. These blanks are sourced from Australia. The burl grain is densely figured, with very tight eyes. Turns well with sharp tools. As with all burls, care should be taken to fill any voids with CA glue before turning.
