Rikon's 1/2HP multipurpose sander is a handy, portable solution for sanding concave, convex or flat edges. It converts from a spindle sander to a belt sander quickly by removing a couple of knobs and installing rubber sanding drums or a belt-sanding attachment. In either belt-sanding or spindle-sanding modes, the sanding drums or belt oscillate vertically to minimize abrasive clogging, resulting in less heat build-up and burning, faster sanding and longer tool life. The front portion of the table tilts to 45° and locks in four detent positions for accurate bevel sanding, and an included miter gauge will be helpful for refining workpieces with angled ends. A combination of vented throat plates and under-table dust extraction draw dust away from the table and keep the air cleaner.
