Rikon uses this easy and inexpensive insert system on its insert-type Z3 and Z4 lathe chucks (#71858, #73477, #78858 and #79212, all sold separately). These steel inserts are available with a variety of thread patterns on the interior to suit various lathe spindle options, but all have the same exterior thread to fit the above-mentioned chucks. Just check the manual to find your lathe's headstock spindle threading, and purchase the insert that fits it. Then thread the insert into the chuck so you can thread the chuck onto the lathe spindle. This insert system also guarantees that you'll still be able to use your Rikon Z3 or Z4 insert-type chuck, even if you change lathes in the future.
