Multiple mounting options and jaw orientations let you configure this rugged vise to best suit your bench and work style—jaw linings grip wood, metal and even cylindrical objects!
Versatility was top-of-mind when our product designers engineered this clever vise! A square steel tube on the vise jaw assembly slides in and out of the robust steel base, which is key to its unique configurability. You can fit the vise jaws parallel to the base and orient the base right-side up (for mounting to the top of your bench) or upside down (for mounting to the bottom face of your benchtop). Or arrange the vise and base components perpendicular to each other instead. In this orientation, the base can be mounted on its side to a vertical surface, such as the broad edge of benchtop. It also can be installed horizontally, which orients the vise jaws vertically. Regardless of which configuration you choose, the base attaches to your work surface with four included socket-head hex bolts that screw into threaded inserts, so installing it is easy with no additional retrofitting required.
But solid clamping capability is what you look for in any vise, and our Multi-Mount All-Purpose Vise is up to task in that regard, too. It features strong, die-cast aluminum jaw plates with a textured hardened steel insert bar along the top edges for gripping metal objects. Rubber-like inserts below the steel bars are molded for clamping dowels or other curved objects securely and without marring. Two removable plywood jaw faces will have you covered for general woodworking applications, and the outer jaw has a pop-up adjustable stop that can be raised for securing workpieces against bench dogs. We outfitted the pivoting steel handle with a knurled knob for easy tightening and loosening.
Consider purchasing one or more Auxiliary Bases (#75154, sold separately) with your Vise so you can install them wherever they're needed in the shop, then simply slide the same vise jaw assembly in and out of each base!
