Whether you're checking the accuracy of inside or outside corners of an assembly, adjusting a jointer fence or laying out a half-lap joint, the Merlin Flat Double Square will be ready for these tasks and more. Its movable head slides along an 8'' anodized aluminum ruler and locks squarely wherever you need it. Position it on one end of the ruler and the tool becomes a try square. Slide it elsewhere to form a double square. Or use just the ruler for measuring and marking. Unlike other squares with blades or rulers centered on the head's thickness, Merlin's ruler is offset and flush with the bottom face of the head so the tool lays flat. Extending a locking shelf tab on the end of the head lets you position and steady it against the edge of your workpiece when needed.

The ruler features Swan Tool Group's Tru-Mark Precision Marking Technology: both long edges on one side have a tiny rabbet that offsets the tip of your pencil when drawing a line. It lets you hold the ruler's edge precisely where the line needs to be drawn without having to shift it slightly off the mark to account for the lead's thickness. That minimizes the chance for parallax errors when measuring and marking parts. In the same way, a pencil saddle indentation on one end positions the tip of your pencil lead exactly at the ruler's edge for accurate line placement.
