Used with the standard 25° blade, this Low-Angle Jack Plane has an effective cutting angle of 37°. The plane is 15'' long by 2-7/8'' wide and weighs just shy of 6 lb. You will appreciate the way this plane (with an enclosed toe that is one third the length of the sole) registers to the workpiece. The body is fully stress-relieved ductile cast iron. With sides machined square to the sole, it has a specially shaped lever cap and machined thumb recesses on either side of the body that provide a comfortable grip for shooting.
The mouth can be closed to a narrow slit for fine shavings with minimum tear-out or opened for heavier cuts. All this can be set quickly and accurately with the front locking knob and the unique mouth adjustment screw. The large hardwood front knob and rear handle provide a comfortable grip. The Norris-style mechanism, with its combined feed and lateral adjustment, makes blade setting easy and accurate. The set screws on either side of the blade prevent it from shifting in use without compromising lateral positioning.
Includes a lapped 3/16'' thick A2 tool steel blade. Honing instructions for various cutting angles are also included.
