Wenge heartwood is a rich, chocolatey brown, sometimes with red hues and darker streaks. After finish is applied, the wood can appear almost black, which makes it a nice substitute for ebony at a more attractive price. Excellent strength and hardness. Grain is straight, with coarse texture and low luster. Care should be taken when handling unfinished wenge, as the wood tends to harbor splinters. These blanks are dimensioned at 1-1/2'' x 1-1/2'' x 3'' for small spindle turnings.
WARNING:
Drilling, sawing, sanding or machining wood products can expose you to wood dust, a substance known to the State of California to cause cancer. Avoid inhaling wood dust or use a dust mask or other safeguards for personal protection. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov/wood
