To set the gauge, simply loosen the knurled brass tightening wheel and raise or lower its extended reference fence, then retighten the wheel. Micro-detents along the gauge's measurement scale engage with a second rack of detents on the fence, to adjust the fence in increments as small as 1/16''. Its laser-etched markings are easy to read. The Small Gauge (#70667) has a maximum travel of 2-1/4'', while the Large Gauge (#77499) extends up to 3-3/8''.
