Our innovative hold-down clamps overcome the most challenging aspect of securing live-edge slabs for flattening: grabbing their irregular, bark-covered edges. Sharp teeth on both ends engage the workpiece and the work surface that your slab-flattening jig is mounted on, ensuring that the slab won't move while it's being routed. An internal spring mechanism tilts the clamp up at an angle to make setup easier and to reach higher on thick stock. When tightened down with an included screw, leverage and holding power increase. The clamps adjust to a range of workpiece thicknesses down to 3/4''. A 90° notch between the top middle teeth conveniently accommodates slabs with square corners.
Rockler Slab Gripper Hold-Down Clamps Details:
Large, aggressive top teeth effectively grab irregular, bark-covered slab edges
Internal spring mechanism positions top teeth approximately 1-1/2'' above work surface to aid in initial setup against thick workpieces
Middle top teeth are set at a 90° angle to accommodate workpieces with square corners
Slotted hole enables screw head to shift position as clamp is tightened down
Under screw tension, sharp bottom teeth bite into the work surface to increase leverage and holding power
Angled stance and spring design accommodate a range of workpiece thicknesses down to 3/4''
Rugged steel construction with bent side flanges provide strength and rigidity
Galvanized to resist corrosion when surfacing damp material
